Terms of Service
Last revised: November 1, 2026
These Terms describe the conditions for using CC, including operator-approved global matching, consultation, 1:1 chat, video calls, monthly subscription, and Jelly, Gold and gifting.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the matching, consultation, 1:1 chat, video call, monthly subscription, Jelly and related services of CC (the "Service") provided by chemi (CHEMI) (the "Company"), and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of members and the Company.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- "Member" means a user (a Korean user or an overseas user) who has agreed to these Terms and signed up for the Service.
- "Korean user" means a member who resides in the Republic of Korea and has signed up for the Service.
- "Overseas user" means a member approved by the Company who resides overseas, such as in the Philippines or Vietnam.
- "Operator" means the Company's administrative staff who handle member approval, consultation, matching, report handling and similar tasks.
- "Matching" means a 1:1 connection between members established through operator consultation.
- "Jelly" means an in-service item that users buy through in-app purchase in the store and use for starting video calls and similar purposes.
- "Gold" means an in-service item that users buy through in-app purchase in the store and use for gifting, and also the settlement unit that accumulates for an overseas user in the amount of the gifts received. Received Gold cannot be used or exchanged within the Service.
- "Gifting" means the feature by which a user sends their own Gold to an overseas user from a chat room or the other person's profile.
Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)
- The Company posts these Terms on the initial screen of the Service or on a linked screen.
- The Company may amend these Terms within the limits of applicable law. When doing so, it will announce the effective date and the reason within the Service at least 7 days in advance (30 days in advance for changes unfavorable to members).
- If a member continues to use the Service after the amended Terms take effect, the member is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.
Article 4 (Membership Registration)
- A user applies for membership by entering required information such as ID, password and nickname under the procedure set by the Company and agreeing to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
- Korean users confirm that they are adults (aged 19 or over) through mobile phone identity verification at sign-up, and minors cannot sign up (see the Minor Policy).
- Overseas users have no mobile phone identity verification step, so at sign-up they self-confirm "I am 19 or older" (checkbox). If this confirmation is found to be untrue, the Company may refuse approval or terminate the contract afterwards.
- Overseas users must be approved by an operator after applying before they can use the Service normally. While approval is pending they can log in, but core functions such as matching and chat may be restricted.
- The Company may refuse approval of, or later terminate the contract for, an application in any of the following cases.
- Another person's name was used
- False information was entered
- The applicant was previously sanctioned for violating these Terms
- To help with entering the country/region at sign-up, a user who wishes may have it suggested automatically by temporarily using location information. This is optional; for details on collection and use, see Article 1, item 1-1 of the Privacy Policy.
- A person whose legal capacity is limited under the Civil Act, such as a person under adult guardianship or limited guardianship, needs the consent of the legal representative (such as the guardian) to sign up and to carry out legal acts such as using paid services. If it is found that such a person signed up without consent, the Company may refuse approval or cancel or terminate the contract.
Article 5 (Content of the Service)
The Company provides the following services.
- Member matching through operator approval and consultation
- 1:1 chat between matched members (photo, video and file attachments, real-time translation support)
- Chat, likes and comments based on the monthly subscription, and free chat (finding a partner). Members without a subscription can only view.
- Video calls (using Jelly) and gifting (using Gold)
- Any other services the Company develops or provides through partnerships
The Company may provide the content or scope of the Service (number of people who can be matched, chat and call time, additional features, etc.) differently by member, depending on the member's grade, subscription or payment status, identity verification status, history of violating the Terms or policies, and so on.
Article 6 (Member Obligations and Prohibited Acts)
- Members must comply with these Terms, applicable law and the Community Guidelines.
- Members must not do any of the following.
- Misusing another person's information or registering false information
- Acts that offend others, such as insults, sexual expressions, spam or advertising
- Approaching others for improper purposes such as demanding money or fraud
- Demanding money, gifts or cash-equivalent points by any means other than the gifting provided by the app, or demanding meetings, exchange of contact details or private conversations in return for gifts
- Buying, selling, transferring or lending Jelly or Gold other than in the way set by the Company, or obtaining Jelly or accumulating Gold by improper means
- Approaching minors, or continuing to interact with a person known to be a minor
- Interfering with the operation of the Service or violating applicable law
- Leaking or spreading conversation content without the other person's consent through capture, recording and the like
- Posting external contact details (phone number, messenger ID, social media account, email, etc.) in areas shown before matching such as the profile, nickname or one-line intro, or repeatedly demanding external contact details against the other person's wishes
- Trading paid services or Jelly while bypassing the payment procedure set by the Company, or carrying out commercial activity such as selling goods or services within the Service
- Saving or collecting without permission another member's profile, photos or conversation content learned through the Service, and posting it outside the Service or providing it to third parties
- Of the information entered at sign-up, gender and ID cannot be changed after sign-up because of the matching structure of the Service. Other profile information can be edited by the member, and members must keep their information true.
Article 7 (Account Management)
- Members are responsible for keeping their account and password secure, and may not transfer or lend them to third parties.
- If unauthorized use of an account is confirmed, the Company may restrict its use.
Article 8 (Paid Services)
The fees, payment and refunds for paid services such as the monthly subscription, Jelly and Gold follow the Payment and Refund Policy. Payment is made through Google Play billing on Android and Apple in-app purchase on iOS.
- The monthly subscription is an auto-renewing store product. With a subscription you can send messages, like and comment at no extra cost; without one you can only view. Cancellation and renewal are managed in the subscription settings of the store you use.
- Jelly is bought by the user as a consumable store product. It is used to start video calls, and the quantity set by the Company is deducted every minute while the call continues. Jelly has no separate expiry period. Jelly given without charge, such as attendance rewards, is excluded from refunds.
- Gold (purchased) is bought by the user as a consumable store product (1 Gold = 110 KRW) and is used only for gifting. Gifting is a feature by which a member with a subscription sends Gold, in any quantity from 10 to 1,000, to an eligible overseas user; one account can send at most 1,000 Gold per day. The Gold is used immediately when a gift is sent and the same quantity of Gold accumulates for the recipient, so a gift cannot be cancelled or reversed once sent, and it will not be taken back from the recipient. Gifts cannot be sent to someone who cannot receive them, for example because of a block.
- Gold (received gifts) is the settlement unit that accumulates for an overseas user in the amount of gifts received. It cannot be used within the Service, exchanged or transferred; the Company checks each member's accumulated record, pays it outside the Service, and records the amount paid. Gold becomes eligible for payment once 30 days have passed since the gift was received. If it is found that Gold was accumulated by improper means or that Article 6 was violated, the Company may withhold payment or cancel the accumulation.
- Jelly and Gold (purchased) are not refundable if any part has been used (because the store does not support partial refunds of a payment), and unused Jelly and Gold can be refunded in full if requested within 7 days of purchase. Whether it has been used is judged by the usage history after that purchase. While a refund is being requested, the requested quantity of Jelly or Gold cannot be used. iOS payments cannot be refunded from within the app and must be requested from Apple directly. The refund conditions, extinctive prescription and handling upon withdrawal or sanction for Jelly and Gold follow Article 2-1 of the Payment and Refund Policy.
Article 9 (Reports and Restrictions on Use)
- Members may report inappropriate users, and the Company reviews reports and takes the necessary measures (Report and Block Policy).
- A member who violates these Terms or applicable law may be subject to measures such as a warning, suspension of use or permanent restriction (Account Suspension and Withdrawal Policy).
Article 10 (Content and Copyright)
- Copyright in content a member writes, posts or sends within the Service, such as profiles and messages, belongs to that member.
- Members must guarantee that their content does not infringe the rights of third parties, and are responsible for any violation.
- The Company uses members' content only to the minimum extent necessary to provide and operate the Service. Specifically, this means showing profiles to matched partners, delivering and storing chat messages and attachments for the other party, backups for disaster recovery, and checking for violations when a report is received.
- If the Company wishes to use a member's content for any purpose other than the above, such as advertising or promotion, it obtains that member's prior consent each time. Not consenting causes no disadvantage in using the Service.
- When a member deletes content or withdraws, the Company stops the above use. However, chat messages already delivered to the other party are preserved rather than deleted in order to protect the other party's right to view them, and even then the withdrawn member's identifying information such as nickname and profile is anonymized (Personal Information Retention and Deletion Schedule).
Article 11 (Change and Suspension of the Service)
- The Company may change all or part of the Service for operational or technical reasons, and will announce significant changes in advance.
- The Company may temporarily suspend the Service for unavoidable reasons such as system maintenance, equipment failure or natural disaster. In that case it will announce in advance, but where unavoidable it may announce afterwards.
- If the Company terminates the Service entirely, it will notify members individually, by the email they registered or app push notification, in addition to an in-Service announcement, at least 30 days before the termination date.
- When the Service is terminated, paid products held by members are handled as follows. Since the Service ends through no fault of the member, the Company returns the consideration for which the member still has an opportunity to use.
- Monthly subscription: the amount for the remaining usage period as of the termination date is refunded on a daily pro rata basis.
- Jelly: the amount paid for the unused remaining Jelly is refunded. Jelly given without charge is excluded from refunds.
- Gold: Gold not yet paid out is settled and paid before termination under the criteria set by the Company.
- The refund procedure and deadline follow the Payment and Refund Policy.
Article 12 (Termination of the Contract and Withdrawal)
- Members may withdraw at any time through the in-app procedure. The withdrawal procedure and the scope of data retention and deletion follow the Account Suspension and Withdrawal Policy and the Personal Information Retention and Deletion Schedule.
- A member who has withdrawn may sign up again. However, a Korean user can sign up again with the same identity verification information only after 30 days have passed since withdrawal. However, to prevent re-registration aimed at evading restrictions (sanctions), the Company keeps a hash of the identity verification linking information (CI), and the same person with a sanction history may be restricted from signing up again. The stored value is a hash from which the original cannot be recovered.
- Even after signing up again, usage history of the previous account, such as matching, chat, subscription, Jelly and Gold, is not carried over.
- When a member withdraws voluntarily, remaining Jelly and purchased Gold are not automatically refunded and expire (gifts already sent cannot be reversed), and the withdrawal screen tells the member in advance that remaining items will expire. An overseas user with unpaid Gold must request payment through customer support before withdrawing, and may not be paid after withdrawal.
Article 13 (Disclaimer)
- The Company has no obligation to intervene in disputes between members arising from matching, chat, calls and the like, and is not liable for resulting damage. However, when a report is received, the Company is obliged to review and act under the Report and Block Policy.
- The Company does not guarantee the truth or reliability of information members register, and members use the Service at their own judgment and responsibility. The Company does not guarantee a member's identity (name, occupation, marital status, etc.).
- The Service only provides online matching and conversation; it does not arrange or broker offline meetings between members. All problems arising when a member meets in person someone they met through the Service are the responsibility of that member, so please decide carefully whether and how to meet.
- The Company is not liable for damage caused by reasons beyond its control, such as natural disasters or the member's own fault.
Article 14 (Use Overseas)
- The Company provides, operates and manages the Service on servers located in the Republic of Korea. Overseas users, by their nature, use the Service outside the territory of the Republic of Korea (the Philippines, Vietnam, etc.), and countries targeted by the Service may be added in the future.
- If a member uses the Service outside the territory of the Republic of Korea, the Company does not guarantee the quality or usability of the Service there. Members must decide whether to use the Service at their own judgment and responsibility, and are themselves responsible for complying with the laws of their country of residence (local law) while using the Service.
- The Company notifies members, under Article 6 of the Privacy Policy, that their personal information may be transferred to and stored overseas because of the overseas infrastructure (Firebase, LiveKit, etc.) used to provide the Service.
Article 15 (Dispute Resolution and Governing Law)
Disputes related to these Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the courts of the Republic of Korea have exclusive jurisdiction regardless of the member's nationality. However, where applicable law mandatorily applies separate consumer protection rules to overseas users, those rules apply.
Addendum
These Terms were revised on November 1, 2026.
